New life for old areas: CCE uses landfill in Rafelder for solar power

Former landfills are suitable neither for agriculture nor for construction. With the solar park, this area is now being put to sensible subsequent use. At the same time, in the course of the project the landfill area was extensively treated and secured. In this way, Rafelder combines the generation of clean electricity with the upgrading of a previously contaminated site, without any additional land consumption.

Strong financing, reliable partner

The project was financed through a loan of 7 million euros from the Dutch Rabobank. The trust of an established financing partner underlines the quality of the project and CCE’s experience in implementing large photovoltaic systems.

Another building block in the Netherlands

Together with the solar park in Marknesse, CCE is further expanding its presence in the Dutch market. Both plants together generate around 31 GWh of electricity per year, enough to supply approximately 12,500 households with green energy.
