1. William, who are you and what inspires you in everyday life?
I am 45 years old, live with my family in the polder area, and love life in nature. In summer, I dedicate myself to beekeeping, in winter to hunting - both connect me with nature.
2. Why beekeeping - and why with CCE?
Bees are fascinating but threatened. As a nature-loving person, it was important to me to contribute to the preservation of biodiversity. CCE's Biodiversity Program was a perfect fit - together we can make a difference.
3. What are you most looking forward to as a beginner in beekeeping?
Despite all the challenges, I look forward to working with my bees, supporting them, and promoting their contribution to nature.
4. How did the idea of combining beekeeping and a PV open space system come about?
The idea arose in conversations with CCE: solar energy and bees both use the power of the sun - a beautiful synergy. The solar park offers ideal conditions for more biodiversity.
5. How did you prepare? What was particularly exciting?
I have read a lot, completed training, and worked with an experienced beekeeper. I find it particularly fascinating how complex and well-organized a bee colony functions.
6. What support was particularly helpful?
CCE has supported me greatly. The biggest challenge so far has been to create a diverse flower meadow - without suitable plants, the bees lack food.
7. How does beekeeping contribute to biodiversity?
Beekeeping sensibly uses areas around solar parks: flower meadows promote habitats for many species. Bees are key figures - they pollinate plants and thus strengthen the entire ecosystem.
8. What are your next steps?
I will catch a natural swarm and relocate it to the new beehive. My focus is on learning, observing, and providing the bees with the best possible conditions.

Seine Welt sind die Bienen
1. William, wer bist du und was begeistert dich im Alltag?
Ich bin 45 Jahre alt, lebe mit meiner Familie im Poldergebiet und liebe das Leben in der Natur. Im Sommer widme ich mich der Imkerei, im Winter der Jagd – beides verbindet mich mit der Natur.
2. Warum Imkerei – und warum mit CCE?
Bienen sind faszinierend, aber bedroht. Als naturverbundener Mensch war es mir wichtig, etwas zum Erhalt der Artenvielfalt beizutragen. CCEs Biodiversitätsprogramm passte perfekt – gemeinsam können wir etwas bewirken.
3. Worauf freust du dich als Imkerei-Einsteiger am meisten?
Trotz aller Herausforderungen freue ich mich darauf, mit meinen Bienen zu arbeiten, sie zu unterstützen und ihren Beitrag zur Natur zu fördern.
4. Wie kam die Idee, Imkerei und Solarpark zu verbinden?
In Gesprächen mit CCE entstand die Idee: Sonnenenergie und Bienen nutzen beide die Kraft der Sonne – eine schöne Synergie. Der Solarpark bietet ideale Bedingungen für mehr Artenvielfalt.
5. Wie hast du dich vorbereitet? Was war besonders spannend?
Ich habe viel gelesen, Trainings absolviert und mit einem erfahrenen Imker gearbeitet. Besonders faszinierend finde ich, wie komplex und gut organisiert ein Bienenvolk funktioniert.
6. Welche Unterstützung war besonders hilfreich?
CCE hat mich toll unterstützt. Die größte Herausforderung war bisher, eine vielfältige Blühwiese anzulegen – ohne passende Pflanzen fehlt es den Bienen an Nahrung.
7. Wie trägt die Imkerei zur Biodiversität bei?
Beekeeping nutzt Flächen rund um Solarparks sinnvoll: Blühwiesen fördern Lebensräume für viele Arten. Bienen sind dabei Schlüsselfiguren – sie bestäuben Pflanzen und stärken so das gesamte Ökosystem.
8. Was sind deine nächsten Schritte?
Ich werde einen natürlichen Schwarm einfangen und in den neuen Bienenstock umsiedeln. Mein Fokus liegt darauf, zu lernen, zu beobachten und den Bienen bestmögliche Bedingungen zu bieten.
